How Can You Choose the Right Furniture for Your Kid's Bedroom?

Posted on

If you have a growing family to contend with, you may need to juggle some space in your current home so that you can accommodate their wants and needs. You may come across a particular challenge in the bedroom, especially if you need to accommodate more than one child in each space. So, what furniture options can you choose to make life a lot easier and keep everyone as happy as possible?

Bunk Beds

What do city planners suggest if they are looking for additional space but have run out of land? Typically, they need to look up and build multistorey properties. In your case, you may need to look up within your bedroom and consider bunk beds. These are great when it comes to space-saving and are available in a range of configurations. You can even choose bunk beds that feature a full-size mattress (on the lower level) if you have a larger child and perhaps a twin size above.

Trundle Bed

Or how about a trundle bed? These are similar to storage beds and can once again feature different-size mattresses. They also come in a range of fun designs with the potential for additional storage.

Storage Bed

Some bunk beds are made with storage in mind. They may have a large pull-out drawer, but with additional drawers built into the side. This can be a very convenient way to organise everything in your child's bedroom. You can keep the additional linens out of sight, as well as any toys, books or electronics.

Loft Bed

If you only have one child to worry about in a particular room, you can still take the space-saving approach with a loft bed. Again, this is similar in concept to a bunk bed layout, but there is only one mattress on the very top. Underneath, you'll be free to configure. For example, you could utilise this area for a desk and chair or turn it into an attractive play area. This will give you additional space for any other furniture you may want to introduce.

Options for the Future

No matter how large your family grows, you will always have options if you choose furniture that is based on the bunk bed philosophy. In addition, most children seem to find this type of configuration fun and exciting, so you're unlikely to face any pushback from the little ones as you decide.
